Dr. Matt Dillard Is More Than a Regular Dentist Meet Our Board-Certified Oral Surgeon
All oral surgeons are dentists, but not all dentists are oral surgeons. Our oral surgeon, Dr. Matt Dillard, received his degree in dentistry from the Medical University of South Carolina. He went on to complete an additional four years of education, training, and residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Ohio State University and graduated in 2003. Dr. Dillard then entered active duty with the U.S. Navy. After completing his service in 2006, he, his wife, and their three children returned to the Charleston area, where Dr. Dillard has been practicing ever since.
In addition to having years of training beyond dentists, Dr. Dillard is also a board-certified oral surgeon. This designation is only awarded to practitioners who have a demonstrated track record of exceptional knowledge, advanced skill, and excellent patient results. If you're in need of complex dental care, trust your health and smile to a professional like Dr. Matt Dillard.

Our Featured Procedures
Dental Implants
Dental implants are the best option for replacing teeth because they are the only treatment that can prevent jawbone atrophy. When you lose a tooth, the underlying jawbone begins to deteriorate due to lack of stimulation from the tooth roots. Over time, this deterioration can cause your facial appearance to change and your remaining teeth to shift or even fall out.
Prevent these problems and enjoy a complete smile once again with dental implants. Implants are anchored in the jawbone and support lifelike restorations–replacing teeth from root to crown. This treatment option can transform your dental function and confidence when you look in the mirror.

Bone Grafting
Dental implants are a wonderful treatment for missing teeth, but not every patient immediately qualifies for them. Because they are surgically embedded in the jawbone, they require a sufficient amount of bone tissue for placement. If your jaw has weakened to the point where it cannot support dental implants, a bone graft can restore your candidacy.
During the bone grafting procedure, Dr. Dillard replenishes lost tissue in affected areas of the jaw to create a strong and stable foundation for implants and restorations. We offer multiple grafting methods and make use of advanced imaging to deliver more precise treatment with better outcomes.
Wisdom Teeth Removal
Are you dealing with dental pain, swollen gums, or a persistent bad taste in your mouth? You may need your wisdom teeth removed. Even if your wisdom teeth don't cause you trouble, it's worth visiting a dentist or oral surgeon to explore extraction.
If wisdom teeth emerge from the gums at an angle or fail to emerge at all, it can lead to cavities, dental infections, or dental shifting that requires orthodontic treatment to correct.
Removing them now can save you time and money on avoidable dentistry in the future. Even better, wisdom teeth don't have to be replaced–you just need one virtually painless procedure and you're done.
