So dental implants kind of came about back in the '70s. It was kind of slow to catch on. But once we realize the success and the capabilities of what could be done with them, it really took off in the '90s and has just exponentially grown worldwide. And there's millions of dental implants being placed every year now.
They allow us to provide all types of options for replacing missing teeth. And it can be a single tooth, where we put a single crown on the implant. It could be four or five teeth. And we can even do something called a bridge on the implants and multiple crowns attached and attach those to the implant. Sometimes it's patients, who are missing all their teeth, and we have to replace all of them and it can be used to help hold dentures in. Or we can actually place multiple implants and create a very special type of bridge called a hybrid. And we're allowed to place essentially, the entire arch of teeth on multiple implants, and a lot of times that can even be done in one visit. And so the availability of these procedures now and the wide range of options is it's pretty amazing.
