Get to Know Matt Dillard, DMD, MS Our Board-Certified Oral Surgeon
With a passion for helping patients with all types of needs achieve better health and confidence in their smiles, Dr. Matt Dillard strove to become more than just a general dentist.
After receiving his dental degree from the Medical University of South Carolina, he went on to complete an additional four-year residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Ohio State University. During this time, Dr. Dillard dedicated himself to the study of advanced surgical dentistry and the intricate oral structures that help us chew, speak, and smile. This training is superior to dentists and allows him to handle everything from simple tooth extractions to multi-stage reconstructive treatment plans.
In 2003, Dr. Dillard felt called to serve our country and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After completing his service, he returned to South Carolina and to dentistry, settling in the Charleston area with his wife and their three children. He has provided patients with excellent dental and oral maxillofacial care from our offices in Charleston and Walterboro, SC, ever since.

A Real Patient's Testimonial "Excellent job. They showed my dad great respect."

We Use the Latest Technology in Dentistry To Provide the Best Oral Care
If you are missing teeth, dental implants are the best treatment to fill the gaps in your smile. Implants are anchored in the jawbone and mimic the function of natural tooth roots, providing important stimulation that maintains jaw health and strength. Once Dr. Dillard performs your placement surgery and the area heals, implants can support custom-made crowns, bridges, or dentures. These restorations will be provided by your dentist so you can chew comfortably, speak normally, and smile confidently again.
Have you been told you aren't a candidate for dental implants due to low jawbone density? A bone graft can be the first step on your path to a restored smile. Dr. Dillard can replace lost bone tissue in areas of atrophy so your jaw is strong enough to support implants and restorations. We offer multiple grafting methods to ensure each patient receives the treatment that serves them best.
If wisdom teeth come in at an angle, they can make it harder to brush, cause other teeth to shift, and lead to troublesome infections. It's also usually much more affordable to remove them than to deal with the issues they create down the line. Dr. Dillard is an extraction specialist who can handle complex cases and offers sedation to ensure complete comfort during the procedure.
We Accept Insurance and Flexible Financing
Our practice takes most types of dental insurance, including Delta Dental, MetLife, United Concordia, and Medicaid. Although we do not accept HMO plans, we'll be happy to file a claim on your behalf. We also accept financing through CareCredit® and LendingClub® and take cash, check, or credit card payments.
A Great Review for Our Team "No bruising, discomfort, or complications."
"Dr. Dillard and staff are really great! I have had headaches that caused more discomfort than this tooth extraction. I needed a baby tooth that was fused to the bone jawbone removed for a dental implant. I have had no bruising, discomfort or complications. I recommend Dr. Dillard to anyone who needs major or extensive dental surgery." Aimar McQueeney
